Come Closer, Vampire January 7, 2003 By Nancy Price Come closer, vampire. Sit by the campfire. Cold skin, bloody grin, tell me, who's your sire? Look away, killer. The night air grows chiller I saw tonight's girl. Now does your blood fill her? Look away, dead man. You'll kill me if you can. But I won't die tonight. for I see through your plan. You'll kill me if you must but I give you my trust. You wouldn't harm a friend for your twisted heart is just. You kill to keep your hold on life. You'll be as old as Earth itself one day. To kill you must be cold. If you knew her name, if you accepted blame, you would starve, no doubt, just to control the shame. So sit by me, blood drinker. Yes, I'm a wishful thinker. But I have your attention now Hook, line and sinker. I only want to talk You take it as a shock but with your protection your kind would let me walk So sit a while, vampire Help me plan a ceasefire Warm your lifeless skin by my fire Defend me from your kin Noble vampire
